Annual Maintenance Plan — two visits per year

One-Time Tune-Up — single visit, no plan

What counts as a system? One outdoor unit and the indoor equipment it feeds. A single system with two zones is still one system. A home with two outdoor units is two systems.

For one system, two tune-ups bought separately cost $270. The plan costs $229 and includes the repair discount, priority scheduling, and free diagnostics on top. Nothing is added to your bill without a written number first.

Why a Heat Pump Gets Checked Twice

An AC and gas furnace are two separate systems, each working one season at a time. A heat pump is one system doing both jobs, so:

• It runs year-round instead of seasonally
• It has parts a straight AC doesn't have — reversing valve, defrost control, auxiliary heat strips
• Refrigerant flows in one direction for cooling and the other for heating, so both directions need to be checked
• Heating-mode performance can't be tested in July, and cooling-mode performance can't be tested in January

That's the whole reason for two visits: half of what a heat pump does can't be verified in the other season.

What the Plan Actually Changes

On a normal year, both modes get verified before the season that needs them, and you don't have to remember to call.

On a bad year, the difference is bigger. When the heat pump quits in a January cold snap or a July heat wave, a member gets seen first, doesn't pay a diagnostic fee, and pays 10% less for the repair.

The heat-pump-specific part is that things like a defrost fault or a failed heat strip are invisible in the off-season. Your system seems fine in October and then doesn't keep up on the first genuinely cold night. The fall visit exists to catch that while it's still a repair.

Heat pump homes. Both visits are heat pump visits — cooling mode in spring, heating mode in fall. This is the page you're on.

How much does the plan cost? $229/year for one system, covering both visits. Two systems are $349, three are $459. First year is $40 off the total. A one-time tune-up without a plan is $135 for one system.

Why does a heat pump need two visits a year? Because it's one system doing two jobs. Heating-mode performance can't be verified in July and cooling-mode performance can't be verified in January. Each mode gets checked in the season before it's needed.

I have two heat pumps — how does that work? Both get covered under one plan at $349/year. Each system gets its own full inspection on both visits and its own written report. A system with two zones counts as one system, since it's one piece of equipment.

Do you service dual-fuel systems? Yes. This plan covers the heat pump in both seasons, and the fall visit includes the gas furnace inspection. Dual-fuel is built in, not an add-on.

Will skipping maintenance void my heat pump warranty? It can. Most manufacturer warranties require documented annual maintenance by a licensed contractor — check your specific warranty terms. We keep the paperwork either way, so your records stay clean.

What if my heat pump is older — am I still eligible? Yes. No pre-inspection required. Every system is eligible regardless of age, brand, or who installed it.

Does the plan include parts and refrigerant? The plan covers the two tune-up visits. If a repair is needed, members get 10% off parts and labor, and you get a written quote before we do anything.

How does priority service work? Plan members go to the front of the line in both peak summer and peak winter. When non-members are waiting several days for a repair appointment, members typically get same-day service.

Do I have to commit for multiple years? No. It's a one-year agreement, renewable. If you cancel partway through, we settle up based on the visits you've already used.

When are the visits scheduled? Spring visit March through May, before cooling season. Fall visit September through November, before heating season. We send a reminder when each one is due.
